Introduction Hurricane Katrina struck the gulf coast of the United states august 29th, 2005. the storm was at a category 3 rating. the hurricane was the worst in new Orlean's but also caused significant damage in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. many people were left with out homes because of the huge waves washing over the city which caused extreme flooding and the intense wind blowing through homes, some people had to resort to taking shelter on the roofs of there homes until someone could come and rescue them safely. the flooding covered almost 80% of new Orlean's with some amount of water. hurricane Katrina killed around 2000 people and damaged over 90,000sq feet of the U.S. the damage costs were over 100 billion dollars and was one of the most expensive natural disasters on record.
